Digital animation encompasses both 3d and 2d graphics. 3d works often create a model of the object and place them on the skeleton. 2d animation still follows some of the same processes as it did in cel animation. However the animation on the computer often has the frames in-between the key frames generated by the computer itself to create movement. When the animation is done it is then rendered.
